Trinity Colony Descriptions
Totally unaware of the danger posed by the solar flare activity produced by Seargento, the first colonists on Sygnus had been wiped out to the man. The unexpected burst of radiation killed all two hundred and thirty two colonists. The demise of the first colonists was surmised when a supply ship had entered the system and consiquently fell victim to the same solar radiation. The ship returned to its previous stop on automatic pilot, thus alerting Colonial Officials of the potential hazard of Sygnus.
Soon after, a second wave of colonists entered the Sygnus system with a new plan for survival during extreme radiation periods. Their living quarters and most of the colony installation would be constructed underground. Following the paths carved out by the massive automated mining machines, the colonists were able to construct a vast colony complex able to contain thousands of people for well into the future.
The growth of the colony on Sygnus had brought rivalry between warring mega-corporations eager to exploit rich resources of these fledgling colonies. U.S. Colonial Administration had co-funded the colony on Sygnus with Weyland-Yutani, and thus called in the U.S. Colonial Marines when fighting broke out. The entire 4th Regiment had been stationed on Sygnus fighting against a massive Chinese conglomerate who tried to muscle the U.S./Japanese based colony out. The fighting did not last long once the Marines had arrived, but naturally, their presense remains as a mobile strike force - however in a much more deminished size.
Trinity Station had been erected to house and support the Marine presense on Sygnus. With an expansive stretch of land only a kilometer from the Weyland-Yutani colony, the marines and Colonial Administration officials help drive and protect the ultra-rich mineral resources on Sygnus. Trinity Station is currently host to a greatly reduced number of Marines of the 4th regiment - a platoon size garrison from the 2nd Battalion. Along with the Marines Trinity Station also houses a half dozen ICC and Colonial Administration officials. Due to the extreme size of the installation, originally built for an entire regiment, now is spacious and offers luxurious accomidations for each marine and Colonial official.
A few years after the fighting had ended, a third and fourth wave of colonists descended on Sygnus as a new gold rush had started. Mass drivers moved large containers of ore and other good into orbit, where a fairly large space station had been erected to help facilitate the loading process of ships moving the cargoes back towards the network of core worlds. This station is known as Vandermere Station and remains in geosynchronus orbit four hundred kilometers over the twilight-zone of Sygnus. The station is fairly easy to see from the ground with the naked eye, in the right lighting conditions. It's expansive stretch of solor arrays glimmer and shine, reflecting brilliantly down on the planet bringing a third bright star to the sky.
With the additions of Vandermere and Trinity Station, the colonists had decided to rename the colony complex as Trinity Colony, and the name has stuck ever since.
Areas of note within the Trinity Colony
Trinity colony is a warren of tunnels carved out by fantasticly complex mining machines. These machines would follow mineral veins deep into the ground leaving a relatively smooth passage in it's wake. Inching along, eventually these machines had managed to carve out most of what is Trinity Colony today.
Numerous cubicle like living quarters had been carved out if the solid rock. Roomy and cozy, these domiciles offered relativly luxurious comforts unlike many other colonies, adding to the overall appeal of colonization of Sygnus.

Of course running a colony of this magnitude requires a number of highly trained and compitent people to support those producing. A centralized operations center facilitates the centralized disemination of information and instructions to those personnel who require it. This control center is somewhat cramped compared to other locations within the colony, mainly due to the sheer amount of equipment which needed to be installed in the same section.

Due to the normally low temperatures on Sygnus, most every person wears some form of thermal clothing in the form of a jump suit or as cold climate clothing. Sweaters and sweatshirts are common amongst blue-collar and independant workers, while Weyland-Yutani employees will often wear jumpsuits and work boots. Most corridors and hallways have had paneling and access panels installed in an effort to reduce the amount of dirt and dust tracked through the installation as well as serving as a kind of thermal insulation. Most corridors are narrow and will allow two persons to walk abreast, it does not leave much else to be desired. Different levels within the underground complex are color coded to help with direction sense.

Outside of Trinity Colony
Ranging all along the twilight-zone area of Sygnus, prospectors, scientists and wild-cat teams scour the planet for minerals, information, and quick money. These people often times remain outside of the colony for long periods of time, only returning when new supplies are required or when a rich find is discovered.
Although the atmosphere is mostly breathable, it is a vary laborious job and mighty cold. Most everyone who ventures outside of the colony complexes will wear a pressure suit of some sort for two primary reasons: Warmth and breath. These environment suits will normally keep the occupant warm for nearly a day of sustained usage and carries a silent rebreather/compressor unit to help concentrate the surrounding atmoshere into pressure bottles worn on the back of the suit. Both units run off of a standard rechargable battery supply also incorporated in the back of the suit. The marines stationed on Sygnus have been issued special armored hard suits to protect them during combat or dangerous situations while outside of the colony. Sygnus is mostly rugged and desert like, making for hazardous conditions during wind storms and everything almost always seems to have a thin layer of rusty iron red dust coating it.

A scientific team returns to their shelter in the distant outback regions
In the harsh conditions outside of the colony complexes, the explorer types required more substantial equipment and shelter as they range farther away from the main colony complex. The low surface gravity, and rugged terrain, made a requirement of specialized vehicles a necessity. Luckily, Weyland-Yutani had just such a product. It was the WY-300 range rover. Made of ultra light materials, and available in modular configurations, the WY-300 was quickly accepted as the primary vehicle of transport on Sygnus.

Along with the range rover, Weyland-Yutani had specially designed a prefab shelter that was portable and somewhat disposable for outback explorers of Sygnus. This prefab shelter was large enough to support six people comfortably, 12 in very cramped conditions. Often these shelters would be left behind as an explorer or scientific group moved on in case they needed shelter on their way back to the colony.
These shelters are very numerous and can be find dotted all over the twilight-zone area of Sygnus. Each shelter includes a satalite uplink communications array as well as global positioning/location equipment. Each shelter would also contain food stores for several weeks with an optional hydroponics dome attachment for longer-term stays.
